Toyota to suspend sales and production of 8 models till they figure out why their cars speed up. on the news they comented on 8 related deaths but there maybe more. They have known about this for awhile now and just recalled another record number of cars but it doesnt sound like they know how to fix the problem

I heard they were recalling 1970 Challengers trying to figure out why they are slowing down!

I wonder if all these Toyotas are cable throttle, drive by wire, or a mix of both. If it is a mix of both, then floormat placement could be an issue.

they are drive by wire, when i was in toyota today applying for a technician spot they were getting calls like crazy the service manager seemed stressed out lol

This does not bode well for Toyota. It will be interesting to see how they overcome the bad press. I know Ford had a hell of a time overcoming the whole Firestone tire debacle.

I watched the news last night and they had a 911 call from where this family was driving down the road and he was trying to apply the brakes and it wouldn't slow down. 911 operator nor the driver realized to PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL AND SHUT IT DOWN.

My fox had the throttle cable stick a couple of times and that is what I did. It usually was because on my application the cable bound up behind the intake manifold. .

I had the Throttle stick in my Fiero once, I slammed in the N and turned the car off... no big deal. Then again, not everyone is a car person, you have to remember that some people don't even know how to check their tire pressure.

No lie. That is why manufacturers have installed TIRE PRESSURE MONITORS lol

Time to get in a position to buy some Toyota stock. I am just waiting to see the bottom on this one.

The market has been heading down anyway since Obama opened his mouth about changing rules for investment banks last week. The banks have been selling off like crazy bringing the rest of the market down with them ever since.

This is a double whammy for Toyota. A market trending down AND the sticking throttle issue. I figure Toyota will have this figured out about the time the market finishes bottoming in the first quarter of this year. I expect Toyota stock to charge back up from there.

Yea even Obama has said something bashing Toyota, probably to promote government motors. I think I would rather take a chance on a Toyota with a sticking throttle. Just bought me a new Ford service van, first one my company has ever had. I guess I will see how it goes..:bigthumb:
