Anybody have use for this thing? Overheated. Cranks, but won't fire. Was hooked up to a 5-speed. Lemme know if anyone needs it.

94 was still the 5.0, you probably mean 96 or up...???

5.0 or 4.6 shouldn't matter. Know a guy looking to V8 swap a V6

Brain fart....it is out of a 96. Not sure what all is damaged. It was well maintained up until the overheating issue. Story is that co-workers mom was driving down the interstate, looked down and the temp gauge was pegged. Shut it down and it hasn't cranked since. Motor has 111,000 miles.

96-97 2v are non-pi headed 4.6's (215 hp), 98 2v had better exhaust porting and was 225hp, 99-04 are pi head 4.6's (260hp)bullitt model 265hp.

Mod motors are also very expensive to modify. I had a few.

96-98 with pi swap is for decent power....definitely faster than a slightly modded 5.0....but there is a lot of cheaper potential with a 5.0

For you, you will need a new k member. (go tubular than) I believe. But If you just want a v8 go stock 4.6 2v than.

If you have deep pockets great. If not, get another car than for a v8 .

Q2??

how much is a NON PI motor worth?

a guy knows a guy who has one that "could" be good....
"thinks" it is out of a 96.

how can I tell a Non PI motor from a PI motor easily?

its 4 hours away, was wondering if it was even going & picking up.

PI motors dont use plug wires...they have COPs. That and they use an different intake and heads, but if it has cops, then its a PI motor...96 is OEM non pi. 99+ are the PI motas.

BTW, a non pi, or pi motor for that matter, really arent worth a whole lot. I bought one for $150 a couple years back.

Is it really that much to swap? I figured its just the engine, k member, wire harnesses,
rearend, and gaugye cluster. Oh yea and torque converter

well the converter would tie in to the fact that you have to get a tranny...5.0 and 4.6 bellhousings dont mingle. Its a lot of work, im doing it right now

Just a little 306

something to concider is how legal you want to be. A vehicle can only have an engine of the same year or newer to be legal. As I mentioned in the wtb thread, I would have to get an 01 or newer engine inthe blazer if I moved or SC turned into a state with an inspection. Or take it off the road.

well i dnt really car about it being legal, i just want to put a v8 in it, and if i put a 4.6 in it would i have to get a new tranny? i wasnt sure if the gt and v6 automatics were the same with just a different torque converter.

considering the state did away with inspections back in 95ish, I dont see them starting back up anytime soon.

Alright last chance if anybody wants this thing. Its a 4.6 out of a 96 mustang gt. it will come without the intake manifold. Other than that its complete. Make me an offer. Want to get rid of this asap
