Well a friend lent me his 2000 V6 Mustang that his wife drove before she got a Mystichrome Cobra till my tags get here from SC. It felt like the brakes were a mild metal to metal. I checked them out and they were not bad but I changed the rotors and pads just to be sure. It's still there of course so I'm curious what else it could possibly be. The car has 130,000 miles on it as well. Maybe the bearings is my next guess. It does even if the clutch is in and you can feel it more than anything like a binding mild grinding. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.-Shane

Did you bleed the brakes after the install. Might have a caliper draging. I would jack up the wheels and spin them to see if the brakes are releasing and not draging the rotor's.

Didn't attempt the bleed Morey but will check that out when I get home tonight. Curious if the bearings are going out.-Shane

Shane,

When checking the bearings, grab the wheels and try to gently shake them. Rotate the wheels, they should move freely without any "grinding" and not be loose in any direction. Check for the appropriate amount of grease, maybe handle the bearings and look for metal filings, discoloration, ease of movement in the bearing and check the races for scoring and discoloration.

Also a good time to inspect for loose steering and front end linkage.

After driving the car, if you have a laser thermometer, check the temps on each of the rotors. Higher temp on one rotor points the finger towards trouble.

Can you tell if it is front or back? Maybe front wheel bearings or axle bearing in back?

Thanks guys, it def the front. I feel some resistence which leeds me to think bearings or brakes. I know the brakes and rotors are good now and even the old ones were good. So down to bearings or a faulty caliper or the need to bleed. -Shane

I think if it is a caliper hanging that bad you would smell them burning after driving. You can jack it up and spin the wheels to see but probably something else since you put new stuff on.

not as easy as just bearings...it'll be a whole damn hub assembly...which is only about $85 now or so...they've gotten cheaper. Even with brand new pads, you shouldnt hear metal to metal grinding...which would leave me to believe it would be the hub assembly bearings.

if the system wasnt opened then you shouldnt have to bleed them. prolly the bearings in the front

Yeah, thats what I'm thinking. Not paying for that cause I already dropped the money for new brakes and rotors. If he wants then he can pay for them. Thanks guys-shane
